Sewa or Seva refers to the requirement of a Sikh to perform “Selfless Service”. This is often done within the community, such as helping to cook or clean at the Gurdwara, but may also be done on a wider scale.

The requirement for Sewa is mentioned many times in the Guru Granth Sahib, for example: “One who performs selfless service, without thought of reward, shall attain his Lord and Master”
